If you're new to the planner world, or a longtime lover like myself, you'll understand when I say that I am CONSTANTLY searching for "planner peace." I bought a Carpe Diem by Simple Stories about two months ago and thought I really loved it...until I realized I was being incredibly unorganized. It was so big and bulky that I was not taking it with me everywhere, and I was forgetting a bunch of stuff. I had actually made a "brain dump diary" out of my personal size Filofax Fluro Pink, but carrying around two planners doesn't work for me, and I want everything all in one place.
I had seen the Filofax Gold Saffiano a few weeks ago on the Filofax USA website. The banner looks something like this:
Metallic-y gold. Glittery. Perfection. I found myself laying in bed at night thinking about it. So on Monday, I pulled the trigger and bought the personal size, fully committed to the idea of moving away from that larger (but dreamy) A5 size that I've grown comfortable with.
{I purchased mine on Amazon from Pens and Leather, and will use them again for future planner purchases, as this thing was packaged perfectly!}
Yesterday, she arrived at my door.
Here's what was inside the box:
When I opened the box, the organizer was neatly packed with a protective paper/cloth cover, as all new Filofaxes are.
Far things in life are better than opening a brand new Filofax!
What's unique about this particular Filofax is that it came with two DiLoro jot pads. They were packaged underneath the organizer in the same box. I have never used these type of pads before, but they're hole punched to fit the planner, so I'm excited to use them!
I removed the paper cloth cover from the planner and WOW--this baby shines like a diamond! The picture with the glitter on the Filofax site doesn't even do it justice.
What makes me really excited about this planner is that it's actually more of a Champagne color--not a true gold. I love the color and feel like even though it's super flashy, it will be easy to change up my interior decor without feeling the need to be matchy-matchy. Especially since the hardware is all silver. Metal mixing done right! Great job, Filofax!
The spine of the organizer is stamped with the Filofax "f."
Inside the planner, the pocket is worth noting. In my Filofax Originals, the slits are just slices in the leather with no backing. What I like about the Saffiano is that the three pocket slits are backed, so my things won't get lost, and they're self-contained.
The large pocket is stamped with "Filofax Saffiano Personal Organiser."
The inserts are typical for what you'd expect with a new personal size Filofax--week on 2 page spreads for the week; To-Do sheets; contacts; indices; assorted notepaper, both colored, graph and lined; frosted/ruled page marker and a frosted sleeve.
It also comes with six off-white dividers:
My initial thoughts were that I LOVE the champagne color. I'm not incredibly keen on the interior lining color--I wish it were something other than the camel color. Frankly, I don't plan on using the inserts for very long. I placed an order on Etsy for some different inserts that will make planning for my lifestyle a bit more easy, and I don't really care for the Filofax wo2p inserts with all the languages--it takes up writing room and they seem cluttered, but if you're someone who is purchasing a planner simply to plan--not for aesthetics, then the inserts certainly serve the purpose and are very functional.
I'm not incredibly concerned with how the organizer lays, as I take the pages out to write on, but this is a more rigid planner than, say, the Filofax Original, so it doesn't lay perfectly flat (it's also not real leather, so that may have something to do with it). I expect that with time it will lay flat.
I am really thrilled with this planner and can't wait to finish setting it up and finding my planning mojo again after a few months of feeling lost and confused with my planner choices. I feel like I got a great deal on this planner, and actually feel it's worth more than what I paid for it ($54) and getting a bargain on something like this is always a win for me!
Here's to 2016 being my most organized year yet!
